At Millbrook Healthcare, caring is at the heart of everything we do – and that care extends to our colleagues, our community, and causes that truly matter. This Mental Health Awareness Week, we’re proud to spotlight one of our own who’s turning personal experience into powerful advocacy.
Meet Sam Marsland – A journey of resilience and purpose
Before joining Millbrook Healthcare, Sam Marsland served in the police force – a role that demanded immense dedication, strength, and compassion. Like many in public service, the intense pressures and emotional challenges took a significant toll on his mental health.
Now a valued team member at our Tameside service, Sam is using his personal journey as a powerful force for change. He’s taking on hiking challenges across the UK to raise funds for a mental health charity that supported him through one of the most difficult periods in his life
Through this fundraiser, Sam hopes to highlight the urgent need for greater mental health support for those in frontline roles – and to show how much of a difference your support and donations can make to the lives of those who serve others every day.
Why mental health awareness matters
Mental health continues to be one of the most pressing and personal challenges of our time. At Millbrook, we know that health is holistic; physical, emotional, and mental wellbeing are deeply interconnected. Mental Health Awareness Week is a vital reminder that support, empathy, and community are essential to navigating these challenges.
Sam’s story is a shining example of how lived experience can inspire others to open up, reach out, and take action.
Support Sam, support the cause
At Millbrook Healthcare, our mission is to help people live better, safer, and more independent lives. But we also believe in living more connected, compassionate lives – for ourselves, for each other, and for our wider community.
Let’s walk this path together – for Sam, for mental health, and for a future where no one feels they have to face things alone.
Thank you, Sam, for reminding us what resilience and care look like in action.
