September 2024
Millbrook Healthcare has recently reviewed and refreshed its corporate strategy; with a new CEO and recent sale of our Wheelchair Services division, it was important to decide where we will be placing our time and effort over the coming years and formulate a robust plan for the future success of the company.
Clearly, much of our new strategy is commercially confidential but we are able to share some key elements as follows.
First of all, we are clear that we will be investing in, and growing in, our existing markets of Community Equipment Services (“CES”), Technology Enabled Care (“TEC”), Home Improvement Agency Services (“HIA”) and the supply of healthcare equipment in the home through our Ultimate Healthcare subsidiary.
We believe that a great company culture will be vital to our success and differentiate ourselves in the marketplace; our culture is best illustrated with an extract from our strategy document:
“We care about our service users, their safety and their families who are often going through very difficult times. We understand that the best service comes from listening to our Service Users and our Millbrook Healthcare colleagues while working in partnership with, and listening to, our customers.
We are individually committed to getting our service delivery to be best in class. We believe everyone in Millbrook Healthcare plays an important role in delivering our services and we treat everyone fairly and with respect. We each take personal accountability to deliver our own work to time and quality. We focus on actions and outcomes rather than just words. We call it out when we see something not right in the business.”
A business needs investment, and we are making some targeted capital investments in our IT systems, with a particular focus on improving the operational experience of our customers, service users and our Millbrook Healthcare colleagues.
One final highlight is to recognise that the services provide – providing safe environments for people to be at home rather than hospital or in a care home – is at the very heart of the new UK Government’s approach to reforming healthcare in the UK, being “from analogue to digital, from hospital to community and from sickness to prevention”.
Millbrook Healthcare, through our subsidiary Livity Life, is leading the way in the application of Technology Enabled Care – with both a better quality of life for service users and savings for social care budgets. For example, through our contract with Essex County Council we have achieved audited cost avoidance savings of £37m over 2 years, where technology has reduced the cost of care packages in the community.
Our new strategy is now launched and brings a set of strategic actions which the Executive Team are now focussed on delivering. If you would like to find out more, please do not hesitate to contact us on [email protected]
