Inclusive care

Inclusion in action at Millbrook Healthcare

At Millbrook Healthcare, inclusion isn’t just something we talk about – it’s how we deliver care every single day. We know that no two people are the same, and neither are their needs. That’s why inclusive care is at the heart of our approach.

What is Inclusive care?

Inclusive care means adapting our services to meet the unique circumstances of every person we support. This might involve:

  • Adapting communication styles
Using simpler language, visual aids, or alternative formats for people with hearing or speech difficulties.
  • Respecting different cultures and religions
Tailoring care to align with daily routines, or spiritual practices.
  • Supporting sensory needs
Providing quieter environments, tactile aids, or adjusting equipment for comfort.
  • Creating psychologically safe spaces
Providing equipment to maintain independence empowering people in their own homes.

Why does it matter?

Every adjustment, however small, helps us deliver person-centred care. It ensures that people are not just supported, but understood. For example:

  • A Trusted Assessor working with the service user, carers, and next of kin to support service user’s needs.
  • A Driver Technician taking the time to explain how equipment works in plain language reassures and empowers.

These small acts add up to something bigger: a care service that treats every service user as an individual, not a set of needs.

Inclusion in action at Millbrook Healthcare

This September, as part of our Inclusion in Action focus, we’re sharing practical stories and tips from across our teams. Whether it’s a Customer Service Advisor taking extra time on the phone, or a Technician adapting a piece of equipment, each example shows that inclusion is built into our daily work.

We’d love to hear your stories too.
