Safeguarding at Millbrook Healthcare: A Conversation with our CES Clinical Lead and Designated Safeguarding Lead

Safeguarding our service users and staff is central to Millbrook Healthcare’s mission. We sat down with our CES Clinical Lead and Designated Safeguarding Lead, to discuss how we’re strengthening safeguarding across the organisation.

Q1: Why is training so important to Millbrook Healthcare?

Training underpins our commitment to delivering safe, high-quality care. By investing in our people, we equip them with the skills and confidence to respond effectively to safeguarding concerns. This not only enhances professional growth but also ensures that every member of staff is better prepared to protect our service users. After all, a well-trained workforce creates safer environments – leading to positive outcomes for everyone involved.

Q2: What are we doing around safeguarding?

We’ve partnered with PETA to provide interactive Level 2 Safeguarding Training, focusing on practical skills that will enable us all to handle safeguarding concerns effectively. Beyond formal training sessions, safeguarding is embedded in our everyday practices—from updated Group Safeguarding Policies on AssessNet to routine risk assessments and open forums for staff feedback. Our goal is to make safeguarding second nature, so everyone feels comfortable spotting and reporting concerns.

Q3: What’s next for Millbrook Healthcare in terms of safeguarding?

We’re launching a new HR Pulse Survey to gather real-time input on safeguarding needs. The insights we collect will guide future training, and support initiatives. Ultimately, safeguarding at Millbrook is an evolving, collaborative process. By encouraging every staff member to stay alert and engaged, we can continue raising the bar on safety and well-being.

Looking ahead

At Millbrook Healthcare, safeguarding remains a shared commitment that evolves through ongoing learning, training, and open dialogue. By continually enhancing our practices and listening closely to both our staff and service users, we’re creating an environment where everyone can feel confident, secure, and supported. Together, we’ll continue building a culture that reflects our core values and ensures the well-being of our communities.
