West Sussex Prescriber Equipment Familiarisation Day
The We Care spirit was on full display at the recent Prescriber Equipment Familiarisation Day in West Sussex.
Led by Abbie (Community Healthcare Equipment Officer, West Sussex) and Kyle (Lead Driver Technician, Devon), prescribers, technicians and support colleagues gathered for a hands-on, collaborative session designed to:
- Deepen clinical understanding of the equipment we supply.
- Share best practice across service centres.
- Strengthen the relationships that underpin seamless, person-centred service delivery.
What we learnt
From practical demonstrations to open Q&A discussions, every activity centred on partnership. One attending prescriber captured the impact perfectly:
“It feels like we are all a team now with the same goal.”
That single sentence speaks volumes. Whether it’s assessing a client’s needs, delivering equipment or answering calls, joined-up working ensures service users experience one cohesive, caring team – no matter which badge we wear.
The difference it makes
When prescribers understand the finer details of set-up and technicians appreciate assessment priorities, we:
- Reduce delays: right-first-time prescriptions mean fewer return visits.
- Enhance safety: shared knowledge improves risk identification.
- Boost independence: service users receive equipment that fits their lives sooner.
Thank you
A heartfelt thank you to Abbie, Kyle and everyone who took part. Your energy and openness remind us that collaboration is the most powerful tool in our kit.
