Volunteer days at Millbrook Healthcare

Community care in action

At Millbrook Healthcare, We Care is more than a promise to the people who rely on our equipment and services – it’s a commitment to every community we serve. Recent volunteer initiatives show how our teams turn empathy into action, lending time, skills and wholehearted support where it’s needed most.

Wellspring, Stockport – Practical help and lasting links

The Wellspring (Stockport) is an independent charity that supports people who are homeless or at risk of losing their home. It provides daily food, hot showers, clothing, and essential services including 1-to-1 advice on housing, debt, health (with a nurse and GP drop-in), plus educational classes in English, Maths, IT and art. Their mission is to support people on the journey from homelessness to secure, independent living.

Colleagues from our Stockport depot spent a day with the Wellspring and were able to provide:

  • £100 of requested supplies delivered to keep the pantry stocked.
  • Hot drinks and sandwiches – served with warm conversation and a friendly smile.

This visit is only the beginning. We are already exploring fresh ways to partner with The Wellspring so support keeps flowing all year round.

The Bracken Trust, Mid Wales – Big Sleepover & Heart of Wales Challenge

The Bracken Trust, based in Llandrindod Wells, Powys, offers free information, counselling, complementary therapies and practical help to anyone affected by cancer across Mid Wales. The Trust provides services including emotional support groups, bereavement counselling, yoga and complementary therapies, ensuring no one faces cancer alone.

On 29 May, volunteers gathered at Caehafren Rugby Fields for two vibrant events – the Big Sleepover and the Heart of Wales Challenge.

  • Families enjoyed lawn games and mini-challenges, sparking laughter across the field.
  • Our team shared information about The Bracken Trust’s free counselling, therapies and practical help for cancer patients and their families.

Every smile on the day reminded us how powerful community spirit can be.

What’s next

Whether it’s stocking shelves, serving tea or cheering on families, each of our volunteer days reflects our shared belief that caring communities create safer, kinder places for everyone. Thank you to every Millbrook volunteer for showing what We Care looks like.
