Listening, learning, and looking ahead
Millbrook Healthcare was proud to attend the OT Show 2025, where our team had the opportunity to connect directly with occupational therapists from across the UK. As a leading provider of community equipment, hoist/lift and adaptation services, it was vital for us to hear firsthand the experiences, expectations, and ideas of the professionals who work with our services every day.
One of the most valuable aspects of the show was having the time and space to speak face-to-face with prescribers – both experienced, newly qualified and still in training. We’re always aware of the challenges OTs face, but events like the OT Show offer a unique opportunity to have open, in-depth conversations that bring greater insight into their daily working environments and pressures. These direct interactions help us better understand how our services can continue to evolve to meet their needs and improve outcomes for service users.
The show also gave us a platform to represent Millbrook Healthcare as more than just an equipment provider. We showcased our role as a multi-faceted organisation, delivering community equipment, wheelchair and adaptation home services across multiple contracts, and highlighted how we tailor our support to local needs. It was equally valuable to connect with colleagues from other Millbrook contracts – strengthening relationships across our teams and sharing ideas to improve innovation across the board.
We also explored new opportunities for collaboration with both equipment manufacturers and complimentary service providers. These conversations have opened doors to potential joint initiatives that will enhance how we deliver services in future. As a direct result, we secured new assessment and demonstration equipment for our Dorchester Independent Living Centre, expanding the hands-on support we offer to local professionals and the people they support.
There was a real sense of positive energy throughout the event. Despite the well-known pressures in the sector, the OT community remains focused on solutions, innovation, and better outcomes – a mindset that aligns closely with our own. Events like the OT Show are vital in helping us stay connected to the people who rely on our services and continue improving how we deliver them.
