We are proud to work on behalf of the NHS and local authorities and we are committed to the development of the communities we serve. Our commitment to social value is supported by robust policies and industry accreditations.

Economic

We support the National Living Wage initiative and never use zero hours contracts.

Our local recruitment policy promotes economic development by creating local job opportunities.

We work with local agencies and job centres to support employability schemes and help job seekers to learn new skills through:

  • Apprenticeships
  • Work experience placements
  • Job club events

We proudly support the Armed Forces Covenant to ensure the Forces Community has access to work.

Social

In line with the Public Services (Social Value) Act 2012, we deliver social value wherever possible.

We regularly attend and host community engagement events to raise awareness of our services. We also run events in partnership with our commissioners, and mobility aid organisations such as Hydrate for Health. To find out more about our upcoming events, visit our social media pages.

We support national and local charities through the Millbrook Foundation and offer each employee one paid day a year for voluntary work.

We hold regular charity events at our service centres:

  • MacMillan coffee mornings
  • ‘Wear It, Beat It’ for British Heart Foundation
  • Gift donations for Wave 105 Mission Christmas appeal
  • Christmas Jumper Day for Save the Children
  • Annual Christmas raffle for a staff choice charity (previous charities: Naomi House Children’s Hospice, Age Concern, Cancer Research)
  • Hair shave for Key Changes Music Therapy
  • Moustaches for Movember.

We also work with local Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprises (VCSEs) and sponsor a range of community sports teams and initiatives including:

Environmental

Our commitment to environmental sustainability is underpinned by our environmental policy and ISO 14001-accredited Environmental Management System.

We minimise environmental impact by recycling and reusing equipment. In the past three years we have reduced our carbon footprint by 23%.

Our environmentally friendly operating procedures have been recognised by our Greener Path Award for ‘Zero waste to landfill’.
